If you want a challenging MMO, you should give Ryzom a shot, people compare it to SWG (original flavour), no real quests with loot rewards,.

The famous Kythqaaa..
Without talking to each other, I was systematically allowed to stop his activity so that he could greet me.
He took the time to play and to respect others, at least that's the image I had of him and that I wish to keep.
All my thoughts to his family and loved ones irl and ig.
The community of Ryzom has the right to mourn..
Rest in peace homin..

He leaves me regretting that I didn't know him better.

My condolences to the Circle as well as to those who, on Atys or elsewhere, were closer to him than me.

Siela

My condolences in these hard times, for a homin who was always there to joyfully greet others wherever he went.

Naema

My condolences too, sorry to hear that.

It makes me sad. :(

Azazor

RIP Kythqaa. Even if I didn't know you, the name sounds familiar and not in negative. And a guy who dared train his fight with a LA, we can only pay tribute to him.

unpyrèkud deglad!

Rest in peace Kythqaaa.
FH's barn will seem quite empty to me!

Rest in peace Kythqaaa

as for many I knew him only by his salvation every time I met him.

Eolinius

It is with great emotion that I think of the man who, without saying a word, always greeted me as I drove past Fairhaven. My condolences to his family and friends.

Sad

My deepest condolences.

He was one of the nicest hombres I ever met.

RIP Kythqaa

Chanchey

I'm shocked to read this, I didn't know him personally but seeing him in Fairhaven was like seeing windmills in front of the town or mektoubs near the stables. He simply belonged to Ryzom and the community of Fairhaven. My condolences too, sorry to hear that. It makes me sad. :(

Ryzom team

Hello,

It is with emotion that we learn of the death of the Kythqaaa player, who was knocked down by COVID-19, and we extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends, both IRL and Atysians.

We will always remember him as a welcoming Tryker, never forgetting to greet those who came across him even if it meant interrupting his activities, and as a player who was quick to help those in need, appreciated by many of us.

Rest in peace, Kythqaaa..

Kythqaaa was a quiet and modest homin and most of us probably didn't know him enough. But that does not change anything on the fact he was very helpful and hardworking person.

I feel deeply sorry that we lost him and I feel deeply sorry I never did thank him enough for all translations he made, for everyone who is using my applications.

Remember him every time you use one of them, with almost 3000 strings he translated. Just because he was so nice, just because he was always ready to help, just because he was simply great.

Thank you.

Canilia

I don't know what else to say..

..but I associate myself with everyone's sadness.
it's like I've lost a part of me.
Ryzom is made up of the whole of who we are.
We all find in it what each one of us brought to it..

My thoughts go out to his loved ones and friends.

Briefly played an early Beta of this a while back, and picked the retail version up today (had a heck of a time finding it).I know not many people are talking about it, and it hasn’t generated much excitement, but I am really pleased with it thus far (only a quick first impression as I am still in the newbie area).I must say however that the in game graphics and effects are absollutely stunning in the retail game. As an example I was out in the wilderness and it started to rain. The lightning effects are absolutely incredible and seemed to move across the sky as the storm front moved on. Once the rain started to subside, a low lying mist developed. We had a group of ten of us in beta from my guildies. None of us Americans liked it that much.

We were also inside during the ATI issues, so that turned half of us off when we couold not play. One out of the ten of us liked it, he was not American but from South Africa and really enjoyed it. I did not get to spend any time within beta to find out for myself how decent it was.On release I checked out 5 (EBGames, GameStop, MicroCenter, BestBuy, WalMart) stores in Illinois and not one had any retail copies. Nor did they plan on getting any unless I wanted to order it.Figured if I was going to order it, I would just do it online so why spend money on gas and the hassle of putting pants on to go out of the house to get it.Would really like to hear more from those inside:)Div. It is true.Themis is handling the public relations for the game and spent tons of money on a private party at E3 in the (I think) Spider Club and advertising the game on every major (million plus uniques p/month) websites.Unfortunately the lack of focus was “about” the game. There was no hype build up with interviews, gameplay items, focus on unique aspects, etc.

The running theme from most of the MMO Community is, “It’s just an MMO from some French guys.”Sure the game graphics and AI might be really good, but it’s never really been pushed. The most I know about it is that they have a weird class system, a uo style skill system (4 skills), mobs that beat on mobs, and a weather system that travels around the game system (don’t know much on that).I don’t remember, but I think Themis is also co-publsiher? I might be wrong. Gladguy:quote=JafisobA new MMORPG on the scene and I didn’t even notice. Where is there advertising? Is this available in the states or someplace obscurelike France or something.Tell me more about the game please.Where is the advertising??? Are you kidding me?This game had 6-page ad spreads in the trade magazines.

They have spent a boat-load of cash on advertising.Thing is, nobody paid any attention (obviously). Which goes to show you how tough the MMO market really is./quoteI saw some ads in some magazines but I did not get the feeling that any release was imminent.

With all the MMORPGs in development I have learned to ignore most of them until I hear about open beta and I hear a positive buzz. Where the heck was the hype?

Did Themis mess up the marketing for this game?Is this game big in Europe? Is the game getting more buzz from European gamers?I would not mind hearing more comments about the game from posters who are currently playing it or who played it in beta. Is this the first true skill-based only (not a bastard hybrid of skill and level like AC2 and AO) MMORPG since UO? I am intrigued and would like to subscribe to your literature.Downside is that I’m not keen on dropping $45 for the box since these things go to super cheap or free in time, and I am guessing by the time it does, EQ2 will be out, and that one I WILL be willing to drop the $45. A shame as it does look fascinating, and this from someone who has played ALMOST all of the big MMORPGs out there. DivDevlin:HomeLan has/had(?) a contest running to give away some copies, I think. It may of ended.Just thought I’d dig this up from the grave to say that I was pleasantly surprised to see the game box, baseball cap, and mousepad sitting on my kitchen table last night.

I never got an email saying I won, so either I’m wittier than I thought or they got less than five entries. Now the trick is to see if it will work with only 384 meg of RAM.By the way, my three entries were:Saga of Ryzom - Because Elves are for PussiesSaga of Ryzom - I hear “Please Wait” enough from the wife, my game shouldn’t tell me the sameSage of Ryzom - Because anything less would be called Everquest.
