Welcome to the Mission and Road Rage FAQ of The Simpsons Road Rage. This version is intended for the Xbox not the 360 the first Xbox. Now, let's get started, shall we. Alright, you have 5 drivers.
My friends and I played the hell out of this game on my friend's x-box almost 20 years ago. I remember it being so much fun. I've never had an x-box but searching through Lukie Games recently I found it was available for the gamecube. Normally games aren't as fun as you remember 20 years later but holy crap is this game fun!
Better than Crazy Taxi (both story/plot and controls). I've been playing it everyday for about a month or so now. It's replaced Dr.
Mario as my daily time-waster.It was game only but the disk was in perfect shape. I was never a particular fan of most of the Simpsons video games. But whenI heard about Road Rage I was intrigued in spite of myself, so I wet aead ad bought a copy. It's a purchase I've never regretted. The story is simple.
Montgomery Burns, the infamous owner of Springfield's nuclear power plant, has hijacked SPrigfield's normal public transportation system, replacing it with nuclear powered buses that threaten the public's health and safety. So Homer devises a scheme to raise a milion dollars to buy the regular buses back from Monty. To that end he slaps together a makeshift taxi service.
The gameplay is just as simple. You play as one of twenty-five drivers out to make some money. When you start the game for the first time only the Simpson family themselves are available for play and you can only drive around their home street of Evergreen Terrace. As you raise money, however, you'll have the chance to unlock five more locations, such as the Springfield Dam, the Power Plant, the Entertainment District and Downtown Springfield.
You'll also unlock such drivers as the religious but cheerful Ned Flanders (Oklie doklie doo!) is near idol Reverend Lovejoy, the always wasted Barney Gumble, surly Moe the Bartender and Krusty the curmudgeonly clown. The aeplay is simple. You drive around any of the six locales of Springfield, picking up drivers and driving them to their destinations. Becareful thoug. You have only a certain amount of time to get each driver there, and if you take too long they'll bail on you.
The game also features several modes. There's Road Rage, which is the standard gameplay mode, Sunday Drive, which is basically a practice mode where you can pretty much fool around as much as you want, and Mission Mode. This last featuresten 'levels' each starring a different character. In one you play as the always environmentally conscious Lisa simpson, who's out to thwart the plans of a logging company bent on cutting down Springfield Forest. In another you take on the role of Homer Simpson, who's grown fed up with Mr. Burns never being able to remember his name and has decided to do something about it.
If you complete all ten missions you'll unlock yet another car, though I'll leave it to you to discover what it is. I'll do the same for the seasonal drivers. Audio wise the game does not disappoint. The music, though not extremely varied, is perfectly fitting for a Simpsons game. The sound effects are the sort of cartoony fare I would expect as well. The game also features a wide variety of lines recorded specifically for the occasion. Each character has his or her own set of lines they'll say when they start a run, though Homer seems to have gotten the short end of the stick in that department.
I hope you like hearing him shout 'USA! At the beginning of every run, because that's the only line he has. Each character also has a few game over lines both for Road Rage and Mission Mode.
I never get tired of Homer's plaintive 'Awww, I thought I was winning!' At the end of a Road Rage game or his long, drawn out 'Noooooooo!' Upon failing his mission in Mission Mode. Rising world download free.
Some lines were recycled from various episodes but most were done specifically for the game. It is true that sometimes the dialogue will cut out for a while (probably due to something in how the Game Cube reads discs), and won't come back in again until the game decides it's time for driver or passenger to cut loose with one of their many random lines, such as homer's pained 'Ow, my ass!' At which point it then tries to get caught up on all the dialogue it missed up to that point.
This means that if you'd picked up and dropped off three or four passengers between the dialogue cutting out and coming back in, you're going to hear all the pickup and dropoff dialogue between your driver and said passengers all at one time. This is my only complaint about the audio though. Because it's so totally random the responses your driver will have to where your passenger wants to go can be quite funny. Here's a case in point.Millhouse: Uh.I have to go to the bathroom real bad! There's one in the antique store down the road!Homer (excitedly): Oo, can I come? All in all I find Road Rage to be well worth the time and money.
There's even a head-to-head mode where two or more players can compete to see how much money they can raise in a single run. If you haven't given this game a try I definitely would recommend it. It's definitely provided me with hours of pure, mindless entertainment.
