We’ve already seen the upcoming, Hollywood film version of ’s meaty legs. But now we might have a full look at Sonic’s live-action movie design, thanks to an advertising agency’s branding deck for the Paramount Pictures film.Sonic’s film appearance by publishing its Sonic the Hedgehog style guide. The post calls this “a new modern take on the brand without abandoning its core essence,” and the brand development agency’s included deck, seen below, shows off more of Hollywood’s computer-generated Sonic than we’ve seen before. Included in the guide below: Sonic holding a ring, wagging his finger, and readying to run a lap or 5,000. Sega/Paramount PicturesIncluded among the deck images below are notes on Sonic’s “brand personality,” which help clarify what to expect from 2019’s Sonic. This Sonic will be not only “irreverent and sarcastic,” according to the slides, but also “chill and likable.” And it’s important to know that he’s not malicious — but he is mischievous!
Movie Baby Sonic Boss Fight Mania Plus Mod is here another NEW Design of Sonic The Hedgehog! The Sonic Movie is Release at 2020 February! Also I’m made at the Baby Sonic Movie style! + Added a Secret Cutscene and Video into the ending of the boss fight! Sonic the Hedgehog - The first entry of the Sonic the Hedgehog film series, this film will be produced by Neal Moritz, and the first draft of the screenplay will be written by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux. The movie is scheduled to premiere on February 14, 2020, with Tim Miller as the executive producer alongside with his Blur Studio collaborator.
The “film style guide” for the film. Hamagami / Carroll Associates, Inc.The full look at Sonic doesn’t quite match up with the much burlier silhouette we saw in the film’s first poster. But that was just a hint at what was to come in the film, which takes place on another planet where a blue, talking hedgehog is less strange. And we have to say, we appreciate the way the studio handled Sonic’s eyes, which are notably two pupils on a continuous white in the games.
There’s still a hint of that, but it’s more appropriately divided by his fur. (Not appreciated: Sonic’s gloves? Are made of fur? So they’re just white patches of fur on his hands?)The film is in theaters Nov.
We will hold final judgment on this Sonic design until then.
It’s amazing the difference a few months can make. Fans of the “Sonic the Hedgehog” video game are over the moon with excitement at the latest trailer for the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie. This time, it seems, the visual effects team finally got the character’s look right.
Reactions to the original trailer last spring ranged from perplexed to horrified as the internet sent an avalanche of memes to gawk at the blue hedgehog’s fur, eyes and most notably his human-looking teeth. The new trailer released Tuesday morning gave Sonic a slicker look and bigger eyes that more closely resemble the “mono-eye” sported by the video game character. And side by side shots of the same scene in both trailers show those teeth have been noticeably trimmed down.
“Sonic’s nightmare fuel teeth have truly been cancelled,” former Deadspin writer Drew Magary posted on Twitter.
“All is forgiven Paramount,” another Twitter user said. “I love how they basically tried to make Sonic look as adorable as possible.”

It is cute, and many online took the time to pay their respects to the animators for listening to online concerns and making a constructive change that should inspire people to see the film. Director Jeff Fowler in May vowed that he would fix the character design and then this morning thanked everyone for “your patience and support” in delivering the new trailer.
“I like how he seems like a hyperactive kid in the movie, it would have been insane to try and sell a childlike Sonic with the last design. Crazy how this design change adds so much more charm and personality,” a Twitter user posted.
“The Sonic Movie is a big PSA on how to listen to fans constructively,” another said. “They took a DOA design and turned it into something special. People saying they will see the movie, I myself am now very interested. All the positivity and hype, #1 trend wordwide [sic]. Doesn’t hurt to listen.”
“Sonic the Hedgehog” is directed by Jeff Fowler and also stars Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic alongside Jim Carrey and James Marsden. The film will be released by Paramount Pictures on Feb. 14, 2020. You can watch the new trailer above, and check out the fan reactions below.
Today is the DAY! Could not be more excited to share our new Sonic with you. THANK YOU for your patience and support. This wouldn't have been possible without the fans. #SonicMovie
