I think it's a pretty amazing DLC. I randomly wanted to play something a little more story oriented so I bought it a few weeks ago and binged through missions for hours. I'd say it satisfies me personally for lore, and it does a nice job of tying in Splatoon 1's story and adding to it.​The missions are a refreshing challenge and it just feels so much better than the regular story mode (which I still haven't finished cause it's so unengaging). Obviously once you beat the main missions you get to play as an adorable octoling. The 'exclusive' unlockables could potentially be justified for $20, but the missions and content itself is definitely worth it. I would recommend it as well. Much more challenging than hero mode, to the point where you just wanna gauge your eyes out at times ( ahem, girl power station).

If you want a challenge, then yes, absolutely worth it. It has quite a lot of playability as well as lore. Marina can help you by sorta beating the level? But if you wanna 100% it then you’re gonna want to do them legitimately.

Also, if you’re not in a high rank yet, it also teaches you some of the common strategies which can be really helpful.
