Making matters even more confusing, all three of these 2.8s are completely different beasts from the. 'Nissan'Although Cummins didn't go as far as to reveal specific similarities or differences between the Frontier's diesel and the other 2.8-liter engines, it did say that the fuel system, air flow, and turbochargers have been changed to 'clean up the engine from an emissions standpoint.' Cummins reps did point out that while this engine is only one of two in existence currently being tested, it's ready to go for production.
